Vivo V9 Hands-On and First Impressions: The Vivo iPhone X

The Apple iPhone X, just like other iPhone devices before it, gets a lot of attention. At its launch, it also set the tone for smartphones going forward, just as Apple has done in the past. From dropping the 3.5mm headphone jack to the infamous notch, Apple defines the way things are to be. Other smartphone manufacturers tend to follow suit, simply because the marketing machinery of the world’s most valuable company can spin anything into desirability. It’s only been a few months since the iPhone X was unveiled, and Android smartphone makers have already taken its trademark notch forward as a concept. Asus, Oppo and now Vivo have showcased new devices that integrate that very notch into the design, while others such as OnePlus are expected to follow with similar devices. One of the first devices to officially launch in India with this design is the Vivo V9. It’s clear that Vivo is trying to build an iPhone X clone with the V9. However, when it comes to price, Vivo is being anything but a copycat of the Apple way. Priced at Rs 22,990, the Vivo V9 is a much more affordable option than the iPhone X. But is there more to this phone than just its striking similarities to a very expensive smartphone? We take a look.
