Xiaomi has today launched Redmi 5, the compact smartphone with thin bezel design in India. The Redmi 5 was launched in China last year, and it can be seen as the successor to last year’s Redmi 4 series in India. Xiaomi launched Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in India last month, and the new Redmi 5 is essentially low-power version of those two devices. The Redmi 5 will target similar offerings like the InFocus Vision 5 and the Infinix Hot S3. Xiaomi had a stellar run last year in India with strong demand for its Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4 phones and the new Redmi 5 and Redmi Note 5 series announced last month are expected to replicate that success. Xiaomi Redmi 5 price and availability Xiaomi has launched three variants of the Redmi 5 in India. The 2GB RAM variant is priced at Rs 7,999, while the 3GB and 4GB RAM variants will retail for Rs 8,999 and Rs 10,999 respectively . The Redmi 5 will go on sale starting March 20, and will be available in black, gold, lake blue and rose gold colors exclusively on Amazon India.
